Frequently asked questions and additional
information about our aluminum telescopic attic stairs, 2000 series.
Q: How easy are the stairs to use?
A: It is important to understand that you cannot simply open the cover door with a pull down rod and the ladder will
unfold to you. Stairs are opened and extended by opening the cover door slightly and than pulling the ladder down to the floor,
which will fully open the cover door. The same for closing, you have to be able to push the ladder up to the ceiling and than
push the cover door up to close. You can open and close the cover with supplied pull down rod, but the ladder has to be pulled
down and pushed up by hand. If your ceiling is over 9' tall you will need a short step ladder to be able to reach the
ladder to pull it down and push it up. Some people may have difficulty to operate the stairs if installed in tall ceilings
over 9' height. See Play Video at the bottom of this page!
Q: Can supplied pull down rod be used to pull the ladder down, if I cannot reach it.
A: As mentioned in previous answer, NO. You have to be able
to reach close to the ceiling and pull the ladder down by hand. If you can not reach the ceiling, you may have to use a short
sturdy step ladder to step on.
Q:
I have difficulty unfolding my wooden folding stairs, are these easier to use?
A: For ceiling height up to 9' they are easy to handle, about the same as other stairs, but for a tall ceiling
they would not be suitable for someone who has difficulty unfolding wooden stairs. If you are looking for stairs that are
very easy to operate, look at our steel telescopic attic stairs, series 6000.
Q: How strong are the stairs?
A: It cannot be overemphasized how strong and sturdy these stairs are. They are the strongest stairs available for
residential applications. That is what these stairs are about.
Q: How comfortable are the stairs to walk on?
A: Very comfortable, sturdy and stable. Steps are large, and height between the steps is less than 10".
Q: Can you get a handrail for both sides of
the ladder?
A: No, the handrail
is available for the right side only
